  • SPRING offers a modern, science-informed approach to Pilates education, rooted in mentorship, community, and real-world teaching experience.  Our physio-led programs use a flexible flipped-learning model that pairs online study with supportive, hands-on teaching labs.

We don’t see ourselves as just educators. We’re partners in your growth. With clear, evidence-informed tools and real human support, we help you build confidence, find your teaching voice, and enter the industry feeling grounded and capable.

After graduation, you remain part of SPRING’s community, connected to mentors, peers, and a network that grows with you.

  • SPRING certifications are designed to prepare instructors for real-world teaching across a wide range of studio and professional settings.

Our graduates teach and build careers across the U.S., Australia, Canada, Europe, and beyond, and SPRING is increasingly recognized for its science-informed, inclusive approach to education. In addition, we are currently in the process of seeking accreditation for our Mat and Reformer Certifications through AUSactive in Australia.

Certification recognition can vary by country, employer, and regulatory body, but many studios value SPRING-trained instructors for their clarity, confidence, and thoughtful teaching approach.

If you have specific questions about working in a particular country or region, our team is always happy to help you explore how SPRING fits into your goals.

  • You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Most students start with the Mat Certification, then move into Reformer, Pre & Postnatal, and finally Apparatus as their advanced specialty training. If you’re new to teaching, Mat is the best place to build strong foundations.

If you already hold a Pilates or movement credential, we’ll help you choose the entry point that aligns with your background, goals, and confidence.

Our team is always happy to guide you toward the pathway that feels right for where you are now, and where you want to go.

  • Yes. We offer flexible payment plans to make high-quality education more accessible.

Options vary by program and partner studio, and you’ll see all available payment plans clearly outlined at checkout so you can choose what works best for you. For more information regarding our payment plan options, please email hello@springmovement.com.

  • Yes, and that structure is intentional.

At SPRING, we’ve designed a clear, supportive pathway to help you grow with confidence:

    • Mat Certification

    • Reformer Certification

    • Apparatus Certification

    • Pre & Postnatal Certification (an upskill you can complete anytime after Mat)

This progression ensures you build strong foundations first, then layer on the skills, nuance, and professional depth you’ll need as you grow. Think of it as a journey we walk with you, step by step, with guidance at every stage.

  • Absolutely. SPRING students join us from across the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia, and beyond.

Our online modules are accessible worldwide, and many partner studios offer both virtual and in-person lab options. We’re committed to creating a global learning community that is inclusive, accessible, and genuinely supportive.

  • SPRING’s flipped-learning model is designed to help you feel confident, not overwhelmed.

You begin with flexible, self-paced online modules that teach theory, anatomy, and movement foundations. Then, you bring everything to life in live teaching labs, where you practice teaching, receive real-time feedback, and build real-world confidence.

This approach supports deeper learning and helps you feel prepared when working with actual clients.

  • You won’t be doing this alone. Throughout your certification, you’ll have access to:

    • SPRING’s educator team

    • A dedicated Student Success Team

    • A supportive global peer community & community forums

    • Clear templates, class plans, rubrics, and tools

    • Ongoing guidance around labs, logbook hours, and assessments

Our goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and capable from start to finish.

  • All certifications include 12 months of access to your online modules, resources, and downloads.

This gives you the flexibility to learn at your own pace and revisit lessons whenever you need them.

  • You don’t need anything complicated.

    All you need is:

    • A phone, tablet, or computer

    • Reliable internet access

Headphones can be helpful for videos and online study, but they’re not required.

  • Yes — most SPRING students balance work, family, and study.

Our flipped-learning model, clear structure, and 12-month access window are designed to support real life, not compete with it.

  • Home equipment is not required for the Mat Certification or Pre & Postnatal Certification.

For Reformer and Apparatus, access to equipment at a studio, gym, or rental facility is very helpful, and sometimes essential for logbook hours.

Each certification includes clear equipment guidance in its program-specific FAQs.

  • We understand that life happens.

SPRING offers a clear deferment process that allows you to move to a later cohort within your access window. Full details are outlined in our Deferment Policy.

  • Live labs are a core part of certifications that include them, and full attendance is required.

If you do need to miss a session, each program has a specific make-up process detailed in its attendance policy. You’ll find links to these policies in the program-specific FAQs and on our main Policies page.

  • You will always have the opportunity to try again.

Your first attempt is included in your tuition, and additional re-sits are available for a modest fee. If this happens, we’ll guide you on exactly what to refine so you feel confident moving forward.

  • Yes — inclusivity is foundational to how we teach.

SPRING is committed to creating learning environments that are inclusive, trauma-aware, and culturally respectful. We offer:

    • Captioned videos

    • Modules available in multiple languages

    • Support for non-native English speakers

    • Agency-affirming cueing models

    • Respect for diverse bodies, identities, and lived experiences

We’re here to support you exactly as you are.

  • Refund availability varies by program and partner studio.

You can review all details in our Refund Policy.

  • You’ll find everything — including attendance, deferment, refunds, assessment, and community guidelines, on our Policies page.

  • SPRING students come from many backgrounds — dancers, athletes, career-changers, parents, healthcare professionals, and people simply curious about movement.

What they tend to share isn’t perfection or prior expertise, but curiosity, care, and a willingness to learn. If you’re thoughtful, open to feedback, and interested in understanding bodies rather than memorizing choreography, you’ll likely feel right at home here.

  • That’s completely okay.

Many students begin the Mat Certification to deepen their personal practice, explore movement education, or see if teaching feels like the right next step. Some decide to teach right away, others take time, and some simply value the learning for themselves.

You don’t need to have a fixed outcome in mind to begin. The path unfolds as you go.

  • A lot, and in real, human ways.

Beyond coursework, you’ll receive feedback in teaching labs, support from educators and our Student Success Team, and encouragement from peers who are learning alongside you. Questions are welcomed, curiosity is encouraged, and you’ll never be expected to “figure it out alone.”

  • You don’t need to have a lifelong plan to start exploring teaching.

Many SPRING students begin because they love movement, enjoy learning about the body, and feel curious about helping others move well. What tends to matter most isn’t performance or perfection, but curiosity, care, and a willingness to learn and reflect.

If you enjoy understanding why movement works, value thoughtful guidance over choreography, and want to build skills gradually with support, teaching Pilates may be a natural fit. And if you’re unsure, that’s okay. Clarity often comes through the learning process itself.

  • That depends on the program, and we’ll happily guide you.

For the Mat Certification, no teaching experience is required. Many students begin right here. We do recommend having around 25 hours of personal practice (taking Pilates classes) simply to help you feel familiar with the movements.

For Reformer, you’ll need to have completed your Mat Certification first.
For Apparatus, both Mat and Reformer are required.

Pre & Postnatal can be taken any time after Mat, as long as you hold a foundational movement credential such as Pilates, yoga, barre, or group fitness.

Wherever you’re beginning, we’ll help you enter the pathway that feels clear, supportive, and aligned with your experience.

  • Time commitment varies by certification and by how quickly you choose to move through the material.

Most students spend several hours per week on a mix of online study, movement practice, and reflection. During phases that include live teaching labs, your schedule will include set lab times, with additional time for preparation and integration.

All certifications come with 12 months of access, which allows you to pace your learning around work, family, and other commitments. We design our programs to be structured but flexible, so learning feels sustainable, not overwhelming.

  • The Mat + Reformer bundle includes two separate certifications — the Mat Certification and the Reformer Certification — offered together at a reduced rate for students planning to complete both.

You’ll always begin with Mat, which builds your foundational knowledge in anatomy, movement principles, and teaching skills. Once you’ve completed your Mat teaching labs, you’re eligible to begin Reformer. The certifications are intentionally designed to flow into one another, but they don’t have to be completed at the same time.

    Many students choose to:

    • Focus fully on Mat first

    • Complete their Mat teaching labs

    • Then begin their Reformer intake when they feel ready

This staggered approach allows you to integrate your learning, build confidence, and balance training with real life, while still benefiting from the bundled savings.

If you have questions about timing, lab schedules, or how to space the programs based on your availability, our team is always happy to help you plan a pathway that feels supportive and realistic.

  • No. A professional movement background or advanced movement experience is not required.

SPRING trains thoughtful, informed instructors, not performers. Being “good” at Pilates isn’t about flexibility, aesthetics, or doing the hardest exercises. It’s about understanding movement, communicating clearly, and supporting others with care and intention.

Many successful instructors come from non-professional backgrounds, including fitness, healthcare, athletics, and completely different careers. If you’re curious, committed to learning, and open to feedback, you’re in the right place.

  • Whether you are looking to begin a new career, enhance your current position in the wellness industry, or deepen your personal Pilates practice, all people are welcome to participate in SPRING. Movement’s Teacher Training program.

Course participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the course start date. No applicant will be denied on the basis of an individual’s race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, veteran status or any other status protected by federal, state, and local laws or ordinances.

  • We recommend students have a minimum of 25 hours / six months of Pilates experience prior to commencing our Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program, and to be familiar with the exercises. This not only helps you better understand the teaching material as it is presented, but also helps you to have a better understanding of what you are going to be teaching your future clients. We will teach you all you need to know to become a confident, versatile, and accomplished Pilates professional, therefore no prior teaching experience is necessary, though any and all experience is helpful.

  • The Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program includes Anatomy Foundations, Mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates & Jumpboard, Cadillac, Chair, & Barrels, and Prenatal & Postnatal certifications. Students may choose to work through each certification at their own pace and test out one certification at a time. Typically, students work through the Comprehensive Program within 12 - 18 months. Depending on each student’s individual goals and availability to commit to each certification, however, the Comprehensive Program may take up to 24 months to complete successfully. It is not recommended that the Comprehensive Program be completed any quicker than 12 months, even if the student’s commitment to the Program is on a full-time basis.

  • Absolutely! Like with any new venture, it can take time to build a clientele that supports your work on a full time basis, especially if you are transitioning from another career. Typically, new graduates will build their weekly class schedule to supplement their primary work, and when they reach the point where they’ve established enough consistent classes and privates, they will make the transition over to full time teaching, balancing a mix of group classes and privates.
