Mat Pilates Certification

    • Required Reading: ‘Pilates’ Return to Life through Contrology’ by Joseph Pilates. Note: This book is not included with registration, and must be read prior the certification live learning sessions.

    • Completion of our Anatomy Foundations certification | 21 hours, On-Demand

  • Upon completing our Mat Pilates Certification, you will confidently be able to:

    • Understand the history, goals, and principles of Pilates.

    • Recognize and address racism within the Pilates industry and commit to ongoing anti-racism education.

    • Demonstrate how to create inclusive spaces for Black and non-Black People of Color.

    • Create a safe space for clients of various abilities.

    • Apply knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, including the skeletal and muscular systems, to the practice and teaching of Pilates.

    • Conduct subjective, postural, and movement assessments for clients.

    • Provide hands on adjustments with consent.

    • Design effective Mat Pilates class plans for both group and private sessions.

    • Cue, modify, and progress over 100 Mat Pilates exercises with clarity and precision.

    • Teach group Mat Pilates classes confidently in both in-person and virtual formats.

    • Adapt Pilates exercises for common injuries and approach real-life case studies with assurance.

    • Be an intuitive, professional, and successful Pilates teacher and approach real life case studies with confidence.

    • Complete all online coursework in your Learning Pathway

    • Self Study (Participation, Self Practice, & Self-Directed Learning) | 50 hours

      • This includes SPRING. Movement’s “Building Inclusive Spaces: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for Movement Professionals” course which is included in the tuition.

    • Observation | 30 hours

    • Practice Teaching (Self Directed) | 40 hours

    • Online Exam | 2 hours

    • Practical Test Out | 1 hour

    • Once your application has been approved, you will receive an email with certification enrollment details, including payment options.

    • 7 days prior to the commencement of the certification, you’ll be provided with details to access our online Education Portal which contains the Learning Pathway for this certification.

    • Complete all certification prerequisites prior to the certification commencement date, including reading ‘Return to Life’ by Joseph Pilates and our Anatomy Foundations Certification.

    • Learn how to be a Mat Pilates teacher

    • Complete all online coursework and attend 100% of live learning sessions

    • Receive your Certificate of Attendance: Awarded to all students who successfully complete the online coursework and attend 100% of the live learning sessions. Note: this does not certify you to teach Mat Pilates.

    • Complete all Self Study, Observation, and Practice Teaching hours.

    • Submit your logbook.

    • Successfully complete our DEI training.

    • Complete the Online Test Out.

    • Schedule the Practical Test Out and review the marking criteria.

    • Complete the virtual Practical Test Out.

    • Receive your certificate:

      • A digital Certificate of Completion will be awarded to all participants who successfully test out within 12 months.

    • Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed your Mat Pilates Certification and are now eligible to take our Reformer Pilates & Jumpboard Certification.
